Tenth post. Ahhhh!!!!
True friends are hard to find.
Yesterday I spent a few minutes talking with some of my favorite Bakers Square customers on the topic: "Why is it that when people move/leave their 'friends' seem to forget them?"
If you've graduated from grade-school I bet you've lost touch with at least a dozen friends at this point in life, if not more. Is this is a bad thing? Are we unlovable, unwanted?
I've seen friends in my own life come and go, and sometimes it really hurts to watch them leave. There is a friend who won't leave however (even if you want them too) and that's your sibling(s).
Hold the phone, I know everyone reading this doesn't have siblings, but we'll get to you ;)
My brother and I have shared a lot of good and bad times together, and I'm very blessed to say that the good out-way the bad. Not every familial relationship is a strong one however... take the first siblings discussed in the Scriptures, they didn't get along very well at all (read the story of Cain and Abel for more info).
So where does the rambling lead?
Don't take a good relationship for granted! If you have someone in your life that appreciates you and accepts you, hold on to them. Don't let go, but don't suffocate either. Be prepared for time to change the friendship/relationship, because trust me, it will. Don't fear change, don't fear at all; anxiety can damage your body on a physical level.
If you don't have a sibling, you're probably quite close to your parents. You've done a lot with them, and that relationship is something special because you didn't have to share their time and energy with someone else.
My brother and I will go out to different restaurants every now and again to talk about the newest video game, chess tactics or life in general. We were designed to socialize with others, to be heard and understood. So, instead of finding that person, be that person.
