Hoping to write 100 Blogs, so this is the 1/4 mark.
Upon arriving at my dorm for the first time here in Dallas, I noticed it lacked... everything. No microwave, no wall posters, no fancy swivel chair and no fridge.
Brian (my roommate) and I soon realized how important furnishings are for daily living, so that first week we found ourselves marching through Walmart.
However, everything comes with a price.
Our current budget was less-than-desirable, as we both lacked a job at this point in the semester; however, that didn't stop us from putting in research.
After more pondering and price-matching, we decided some things (like microwave and fridge) could wait until a later time when we had the resources to fork out.
*****fast forward*****
In the heat of the Texas sun, it started to get annoying not having cold beverages to quench our thirst, yet we pressed through. And then...
Somebody won a mini-fridge who didn't need one, so I asked to pay him for it and we got it for $20!!!! :D We were so overjoyed (even as we carried it all the way across campus and up six flights of stairs to our floor).
Fridge now set up, it was time to fill it with all sorts of drinks and snacks. With a full, functioning fridge, and the free microwave which Brian received, our quarters were now complete.
***** fast forward again *****
Fridge has been empty for a few days now, so back to Ramen and Quaker oatmeal. Once you get a fridge to store food, you need to then BUY FOOD to fill it. It's pointless to have one without the other.
Like Goals and Work, I've noticed I have all theses aspirations for the future yet I'm constantly distracted.
Fridge -- Groceries.
A goal without the back-breaking effort is like a fridge that's plugged in and running, but empty. Likewise, hard work (getting groceries) without a goal will go to waste (be spoiled).
Don't let your time or efforts spoil, for they are invaluable.
Also, know that bigger fridges are best used when filled with more food -- don't buy a big fridge and fill it with what you'd fill a mini-fridge with, that's ridiculous.
Think about it :)
