You can't climb smooth mountains.
If life is easy, you're not doing it right.
If everyone likes you, you're a fake.
Don't avoid pain, pain is growth.
Shall I continue?
This path we're on wasn't made to be quick or simple, it's a jungle, with beautiful things to see and rough brush to tread. We can't have the good times without having bad times behind us -- the bad times are what make the good times different, unique.
Personal story!
The last few months I've done a lot of reflecting as I prepare for my masters and the future. What's kept me going is taking one day at a time, one problem at a time, one fun experience at a time. Sometimes the toughest part of the day is just getting yourself out of bed (because Texas is feeling like Minnesota lately, and the covers are so warm).
Just this morning I laid in bed an extra 5 minutes, contemplating if I should get up and go to class -- it's a struggle sometimes, knowing you have to leave you comfort to work straight through till 10PM that night (with the exception of meals and afternoon nap). But you do it anyways because you know you'll be a better person because of it.
Being the first adventurer in an unexplored jungle is similar. If you prepare appropriately you can travel a long distance, learning a sorts of new stuff whilst getting exercise. If you don't prepare, the jungle is going to be really, really tough experience.
Preparing is like going to bed early instead of watching funny videos until 2AM, knowing you have a lot of work the following day.
TOTALLY NOT A TRUE STORY
That GIF is pretty awesome, wish I could do that.
(Sorry! See, this is what electronics do, they mess up our ability to focus -- will save that for another blog.)
Great breakthrough requires great walls, so if you're up against a great wall you're in a special place. Take heart!
For me, I've been knocking over little walls throughout the semester, no wonder I can see so clearly now. My head was all tied up in confusion and all sorts of yucky stuff -- I'm glad I went through it though!
I leave you reader with this: Jungle's are either opportunities or sand traps. You can choose how your jungling adventure plays out by preparing, and if you find a friend whilst exploring then more power to you! (Seriously, find a buddy to do life with, we aren't created to do this thing alone.)
Goodnight blog, see you Thanksgiving week! <3
