AM Surprise

So a thing happened this morning.

At 5 o'clock I awoke with a start as hair-like objects were strewn across my face. I'm pretty sure there was a dream that officially startled me, but as I reached up to touch my head I realized (in absolute horror) that spider webs covered my upper body!

Less groggy now than three seconds ago, I panicked/jogged into the bathroom to remove the webbing. On my return walk back to my warm and otherwise comfy bed my eyes met with my Secret Santa -- a large brown spider perched himself securely on the wall, likely more thrilled to see me than I was to see it.

I scampered over to the closet and took a handful of paper towels, it was war! I swallowed in anxiousness as I slowly neared my assailant. Looking at the size of the arachnid I could only assume he/she had lived a long life, one which would soon...

SPLAT

So that's how my day started, until my nerves calmed themselves and I could fall asleep thirty-ish minutes later.

It's funny to think back to when I was a younger, I was so thrilled to see insects in the wild (my parent's backyard) and would squeal in joy at the sight of ants, spiders and bees. Today I still squeal, just not so much out of excitement... more like... disgust?

Insects and bugs aren't my favorite part of creation, and since "Everything's Bigger In Texas" was proved this morning, I'm less calm thinking about what else may be bunking with me at night.

But what I can be sure about is no matter what happens life will go on, no matter how imminent the threat may seem, even in death there is hope. Really, really comforting to know. We can't lose!
